COLOREBI
ABOUT
An open-air installation made from repurposed theatrical lighting gels, transformed into a temporary canopy suspended within the forest.
The name COLOREBI is derived from the Japanese word komorebi (木漏れ日), which describes the sunlight filtering through the leaves and branches of trees. The name was adapted to reflect the installation’s relationship with light and colour.
The translucent gels are fixed onto metallic carcasses, forming a series of radial structures inspired by the mandala. Each structure was individually measured and constructed. No two forms are identical, allowing the installation to develop organically across the forest.
Originally created to manipulate light on stage, the discarded gels are given a new life as fragments of colour. Natural light passes through them during the day, transforming the forest into a constantly shifting field of colour, while at night the installation becomes a surface for light projections.
